Y-A-H-O-O!!

I had one of those days that I love what I'm doing!   It started the other day when I was working with a small group of students that are well on their way to understanding the wonders of multiplication.  We were going through the flashcards to see what facts they knew and the ones they were still working on one-on-one.  One boy started getting discouraged when he saw how many facts he didn't know.  This is a very bright young boy, yet he didn't like math (so he would say) because it didn't always come easy for him.  So today I had all of them color in a multiplication chart  all the facts, they did know.  The young boy brighten up when he saw all that he knew!  He didn't want to stop working he was so involved in his discovery.  So now he sees the goal of learning his facts isn't that far off.
It was very gratifying to see all the students that were using the chart come away with a better understanding of their progress and it gave the desire to reach the goal of learning all the facts well within their grasp.
