Many Hands Make Light Work

Tomorrow the students will help prep for Tuesday's lunch - a traditional colonial meal of stew, apple cider and apple pie.  They will make the corn bread, butter and prepare the vegetables for the stew.  It will be fun!
Then they will set up their signs for the famous person from the colonial period that they choose to study to get ready for the Colonial Famous People Wax Museum.  I was really surprised how excited the students were when we told them about doing the wax museum.  I'm excited too to see how they do.  Molly has been practicing before school starts.  She sits down with her blue fabric that she is using to pretend to be sewing the first flag since she is playing Betsy Ross.  She can be so funny!  I love watching the excitement in her eyes.  She wants to remember her lines without having to look at her paper.  I think she's got it!
Hopefully we'll have an opportunity to practice the Virginia Reel again.  I was also surprised when we told the students that we would have what they called an "assemble" which we would call a dance to celebrate the wax museum how excited they got.  You can never tell how a group with respond to something. They have been working on the steps and  are doing a great job but they get so excited they start moving their hips and jumping around!  It's hard to hold back all that excitement!
